ROBERT H. MATZENBACHER
Mr. Robert Matzenbacher of Okawville, IL, departed this life in the Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville, IL surrounded by family, on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 11:20 A.M. He had attained the age of 93 years, 3 months, and 12 days.
Robert was born in Okawville on February 5, 1931, the son of Herman and Hulda (nee Ashauer) Matzenbacher. He was united in marriage to Hattie "Pat" Evans (nee Hish) on January 7, 1972, and she survives his passing.
Mr. Matzenbacher enlisted in the United States Airforce in November of 1951. He completed basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio,Texas and completed his training as a radio operator at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, MS. He was stationed in Seoul, Korea during the Korean War and at Truax Field in Madison, WI. While in Korea, Robert served temporary duty aboard the British aircraft carrier, HMS Ocean as radio operator, "Net Control."
